writing scripts

A script that is being written can truly reflect how rich one's life experiences one has.

Struggling for perfection, though it doesn't exist.

Working Title : "In Living Memory"

I'm currently in a mind blocked state, trying my best to write the first draft of a short film for my final year individual production project. It might seem as though I still have much time to complete this, but in fact, time passes by really quickly. And so, I thought, I should write about my thoughts here, and hopefully I will be able to come up with something.

As you have noticed from the title of this post,

"In Living Memory"

Yes. This would be the temporary title of this short film I am currently writing. There are a few reasons as to why I have chosen it as as potential film title.

Here are my personal interpretations:

(1) The phrase, "In Living Memory", is actually used to remember the dead. When you read the obituaries section in newspapers, or the Christian tombstones, more often than not, 'In Loving Memory' and 'In Living Memory' were used. This idea relates the short film as we are dealing with a dead person, someone who is dear to another person. In this context, we are referring to a daughter missing her father.

(2) "In Living Memory" could also be linked to the desire of the daughter of reliving her special moments with her father.

(3) At the end of the film, we are told that the father is actually a robot, hence it is linked to be the living memory of her father, in the perspective of the daughter.

As such, I thought this title actually does works well.

The primary concern here is to decide who would be the protagonist, the main character, whose story is it going to be about? The daughter or the robot?

As we shift focus, the story would be entirely different. And it really depends on what I want.

I want it to be a melodrama of the love between a daughter and father, but in fact, the 'father' is actually a robot.

When I first visualised the film, I thought it of being quite slowly paced. The only concern I have is to withheld the attention span of the audience, making sure that it isn't boring in the beginning till we reveal that the father is actually a robot.

My tutors have been talking about the conflict of the story. Where is the conflict?

Is hard, isn't it?

I guess I'm one step nearer.

Much more thinking, perseverance, and focus, have to be put into this!!

Who doesn't want their babies to be perfect, I'm certainly not the exception.
Really getting really stressed here.
Well, so I spent some money on getting Indian food. Don't even remember when was the last time.

Rice and Chickpeas!

Geez. Hope this helps, I even have forgotten that it doesn't taste exceptionally good.

Guess, that's it for now.

Will keep developing my story.

Peace out!

Films of the Past

Affirmative. I'm currently a film student, with ambitions to become a successful filmmaker. During my free times at university, I loaned out the one and only amazing Canon 5D Mark II camera to shoot this, incredibly embarrassing, abridged music video - I want it that way, by Backstreet Boys. Well, I called it Backstreet 'Boy' as I starred in it, while one of my mates was operating the camera whilst I directed him.

Secondly, the most satisfying film project that I have produced in university thus far. It was a music video. It was indeed an enjoyable experience, somewhat aided by the technically superior Canon 5D Mark II, which made it looked like a professional music video. It could have been much more interesting, but we did the best as we could, provided with the locations, inflexibility filming dates with the entire band. We actually wanted to do a more interesting narrative, however, we finally come to decide upon filming their passion towards their hobbies, music, art etc.

Filming... I want to film...

Let me digress...

I am actually currently working on a script of a short film that is my final year project of university degree. I would be the writer, producer, director of this film! How exciting, how stressful! I aim to make this film to be the best of the best, the best among the films I have shot in my entire three years in university.

Yeah. I just received some feedback from my college tutor, and a professional writer, Julian Unthank, writer for the award winning short film, Love At First Sight. Their positive feedback was the idea is interesting, however much, their negative feedback was most unpleasant, at least to me. Who would wish to listen to criticism of your most precious baby? It is our natural defensive reaction system that feel what they say is entirely bullshit, but the ugly truth is that, they MIGHT be right. I particularly emphasize the word 'might' is because, after all, they are experienced people, what they say truly has a certain weight of truth. Having said that, I believe there always is no one way of doing something, as people always say, there is no right or wrong answer. I still have to accept their criticisms and reflect upon them, make several amendments, think ever more deeply, whether my initial decisions were there for a particular reason, or just merely, a tool that I think it would be cool.

Pitching isn't really my thing, especially when I weren't well prepared for that, plus major stomach followed by diarrhoea that day. 53%? Really? Got to really buck up.

Ciaoz.

Fresh start to a new blog

I haven't been posting actively in all my previous blogs.

Had a play with photoshop, and created the background to my blog.

Can you believe how long it took to complete it?

I would say more than 4 hours.

I bet you can't see it clearly.

I'll post it here as well.

(It actually looks very much different from the one you see in the blog)

Yeah, well, due to screen resolutions and all the complicated technical stuffs, I struggled.

Anyways, this is a piece of work I am actually proud of, I wouldn't say that it is 100% original though.

But, I guarantee that there is one-hundred percent hard work.

For the opening post of this brand new blog, I shall keep it just like that.

I will be posting a range of posts, in which content could actually be of different topics.

Anyways,

Ciaoz!
